Newcastle United are reportedly interested in signing Chelsea winger Willian and the club’s potential new owners are already said to have made contact with the Brazilian’s agent – which has delighted Toon supporters on Twitter.
Amanda Staveley’s bid to oust Mike Ashley looks to come to fruition, as the Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund back the £300m pursuit. PIF will own 80%, while Staveley’s PCP Capital Partners and the Reuben Brothers will own 10% each.
ESPN claimed in an exclusive on Tuesday that Newcastle had made contact with the agents of Willian, as well as Napoli striker Dries Mertens and Paris Saint-Germain powerhouse Edinson Cavani.

All three players are out of contract in the summer, with Willian being loosely linked with a number of Premier League sides including Tottenham. Since joining Chelsea, Willian has clocked up a whopping 226 appearances in England’s top tier.
Newcastle boast a number of options out wide, including former Chelsea star Christian Atsu, Allan Saint-Maximin, Matt Ritchie and Miguel Almiron. But The Toon are expected to bring in a number of players, if a takeover occurs.
Newcastle supporters have reacted on Twitter to the reported news that Willian is a target for the new owners this summer, and many are keen to see the two-time Premier League and one-time FA Cup winner on Tyneside.
