Newcastle fans react as club reportedly interested in signing 21-year-old on a free

Newcastle United are reportedly rivalling Everton and a whole host of European clubs for Nice defender Malang Sarr who has decided to reject a contract renewal and is available on a free this summer – and Toon supporters have reacted on Twitter.

French outlet Le10Sport have claimed that 21-year-old Sarr has made the bold move to reject new terms with Nice, which has made the France Under-21 international available for a free transfer – given his contract expires in June.

Sarr has already developed a reputation that has seen him regarded as one of the best young defenders in European football – and will certainly be one of the most in-demand free agents over the next few months.

Newcastle are interested in signing Sarr but are not the only club interested in the French defender. Everton also want Sarr, as do Borussia Dortmund, RB Leipzig and Napoli according to the latest report.

Newcastle do have plenty of options at the centre of their defence, and are said to have made an offer to sign Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly. Jamaal Lascelles, Fabian Schar, Federico Fernandez and more are The Toon’s current options.

Despite Newcastle hardly needing a centre-back, many Toon fans responded to the reports that they are interested in signing Sarr by urging their club to complete a move for the soon-to-be free agent.
