Newcastle United are reportedly considering a move for currently out-of-work manager Luciano Spalletti to replace current boss Steve Bruce, as the club edge closer to a takeover – and supporters have reacted on Twitter.
Amanda Staveley’s efforts to finally oust Mike Ashley after a heavily-criticised 13-year tenure look as though they are about to come to fruition. The £300million takeover, financiall backed by the Saudi Arabia PIF, is in the final stages.
Given the wealth of the incoming owners, Newcastle are being linked with plenty of big-name players and managers. ESPN claimed that Newcastle were eyeing Edinson Cavani, Willian and Dries Mertens to bolster their attack.

Steve Bruce’s position is also under threat, as is any manager when a takeover is announced. Indeed, the same report claims Mauricio Pochettino, Lucien Favre, Max Allegri and Rafa Benitez all make up a four-man shortlist.
However, CalcioMercato now states that former Roma, Inter Milan and Zenit St. Petersburg manager Spalletti, 61, is being linked with a move to Tyneside – and if he joins Newcastle, Radja Nainggolan could follow him to England.
Newcastle supporters reacted to the reported news that The Toon are considering a move for Spalletti, who has been out of work since Antonio Conte replaced him at Inter Milan last summer. Many are against the idea of hiring him, though.
