Newcastle fans react as club reportedly ‘close’ to agreeing Mauricio Pochettino move

Newcastle United are reportedly close to agreeing a move to appointing Mauricio Pochettino as manager, as the soon-to-be owners edge closer to completing a takeover – and Toon fans are getting excited on Twitter.

Pochettino is just one of a number of managers to be linked with the Toon hotseat, currently being filled by Steve Bruce. Max Allegri, Lucien Favre, Jorge Jesus, Andre Villas-Boas, Luciano Spalletti and Rafa Benitez are all in with a shout.

But Le10Sport claim Newcastle are ‘very close’ to announcing Pochettino as the new manager of the Premier League side, with the new owners clearly looking to appoint a manager that can take The Toon forward – rather than stay with Bruce.

Pochettino remains an icon at Tottenham, where he remained for more than five years. He took the north London club from Europa League contenders to title challengers and Champions League finalists on a shoe-string budget.

Though he remained trophyless during that time, Pochettino is still considered one of the best managers currently without a job – along with the likes of former Juventus boss Allegri.

Newcastle supporters reacted to the update that their club are closing in on a move to land the out-of-work Argentine manager, and many are excited that the prospective new owners are about to appoint a new boss. Many feel the news is a suggestion that the takeover is completed.
