Newcastle United are reportedly interested in signing Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani this summer and are said to have made contact with the player’s agent – and Toon supporters have reacted on Twitter.
Cavani, 33, is out of contract at PSG at the end of the season and the Uruguayan powerhouse has fallen down the pecking order under Thomas Tuchel of late. Indeed, the 116-time international has only made 12 starts all season.
The former Napoli star has scored seven times this season, but has a stunning record with the French champions. Indeed, the South American hotshot has netted an enormous 200 goals in 301 games for PSG.

Now, ESPN have claimed that Newcastle’s potential new board have already made contact with the agent of three players – even before an announcement has been made. Cavani is one of those players to have received contact from The Toon.
Chelsea star Willian and Napoli ace Dries Mertens have also been contacted via their agents, with all three players available on a free transfer in the coming months. The takeover is currently at the Premier League checks stage.
Newcastle supporters have reacted on Twitter to the reported news that Cavani is a target for The Toon and that contact has been made between the new owners and the agents of the PSG ace – and many are desperate to see him on Tyneside.
