Newcastle United are reportedly interested in Nurnburg midfielder Patrick Erras but face competition from two other Bundesliga clubs ahead of the summer window – and Newcastle fans have reacted on Twitter.
German newspaper Bild have claimed that the 24-year-old is a target for Newcastle with Rafa Benitez expected to want a new central midfielder, if the club manage to keep the former Real Madrid manager.
The report claims Newcastle are not the only side interested in the German midfielder. Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Monchengladbach are also said to be interested, and are willing to pay more than £8.6million.
Erras has hardly had the impressive season that interest in his services would suggest. Indeed, he has only made 13 appearances for Nurnburg in a side struggling towards the bottom of the Bundesliga.

However, he has played every minute of the last five league games. Nurnburg sit in 17th place, one above bottom. It is a play-off place, meaning they would have to play the team that finishes second in the division below.
But they are four points behind 16th place, and relegation seems a real possibility. Leaving the club may be slightly easier for Erras, if indeed they do get relegated. He also has just over 12 months remaining on his contract.
Newcastle fans reacted on Twitter to the reported interest in Erras. Many are interested in the potential signing of Erras and are keen to see him come on board, while others are sceptical due to his lack of appearances’s this season.
