Newcastle United are reportedly interested in signing Arsenal outcast Granit Xhaka in the January transfer window after the Gunners midfielder was stripped of the captaincy – and Toon fans have reacted on Twitter.
The 27-year-old is expected to leave Arsenal in the near future after the Swiss star reacted by cupping his ear and swearing at Arsenal fans, when being jeered off during the 2-2 draw at The Emirates with Crystal Palace.
It has since seen the £35million (Times) signing dropped from Arsenal’s last two games against Wolves and Vitoria, both of which have ended 1-1. It remains to be seen if Xhaka will return to the Arsenal side when the Gunners take on Leicester this weekend.

The ex-Borussia Monchengladbach has been stripped of the captaincy, and now The Times have claimed that Newcastle United are ready to offer Xhaka the chance to remain in the Premier League – but with a move to Tyneside.
Newcastle currently have a number of options in central midfield in the Longstaff brothers, Jonjo Shelvey, Isaac Hayden and Ki Sung-yueng, but Xhaka would surely walk into the starting eleven at Newcastle. It is believed a loan deal could be orchestrated.
Newcastle fans have reacted on Twitter to the news that Xhaka could be moving to St. James’ Park in the January window, and many Toon fans are excited to see the left-footed midfielder join Newcastle.
