Newcastle fans react as club linked with Liverpool playmaker Adam Lallana

Newcastle United are reportedly considering an ambitous move for Liverpool playmaker Adam Lallana ahead of the January transfer window, as the player’s contract expires in June – and Toon fans have reacted on Twitter.

Lallana, 31, has entered the final six months of his contract and can be approached on a pre-contract agreement from January 1. But if Liverpool want to bring in some cash for his signature, then they will have to sell him next month.

The former Southampton ace has clocked up 14 appearances for Liverpool but he is very much a fringe player in Jurgen Klopp’s side. The chances of Lallana leaving in January, though, are reportedly slim.

The Telegraph claims Newcastle certainly want the England international, but are aware that there are likely to be plenty of offers coming in for the midfielder. It is also believed that Lallana will wait until the summer before deciding on his future.

The Toon, though, remain keen and are desperate to bring him to St. James’ Park – but that would mean Lallana would miss out on celebrating the Premier League title with Liverpool, which looks all but wrapped up at this early stage.

Newcastle fans are excited at the prospect of £110,000-a-week (Spotrac) Lallana arriving on Tyneside and wearing the black and white stripes under Steve Bruce. Many have reacted to the reported news by urging their club to sign him.
