Newcastle United are reportedly interested in signing Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard this summer but face competition from the likes of Manchester United and Everton for the Frenchman – and Toon fans have reacted on Twitter.
The Daily Record claims the 22-year-old’s stunning form north of the border has caught the attention of Newcastle, as well as Everton and Manchester United. He has now netted 25 goals in 41 games for Celtic this season, as well as adding 17 assists.
Indeed, Edouard is now even captaining France’s Under-21 side and is being rated at a fee of £30million (Record) – which would see Celtic rake in more for his exit, than they did on the likes of Moussa Dembele, Kieran Tierney and Virgil van Dijk.
Newcastle, meanwhile, are in desperate need for a striker. Joelinton was bought for big money for Hoffenheim in the summer, but the Brazilian has managed just one Premier League goal since he joined.
Andy Carroll is out of contract in the summer and is yet to find the back of the net since his return to Tyneside, while Dwight Gayle and Yoshinori Muto are considered flexible if offers for the duo come in.
Newcastle need a talismanic striker to lead them from relegation battles to mid-table and even into the top half of the Premier League. Many Toon fans have responded to the rumours of Edouard, and would be delighted if he joined the club.
Sort of striker we should be signing.

Well at least he knows were the net is even in a poor league, makes more sense taking a risk on a striker that does score

Imagine signing an out and out striker, if only we done that in the summer. Damage has already been done
