Newcastle United are reportedly rivalling Leicester City for Shakhtar Donestk wonderkid Tete as the winger continues to shine for the Ukranian giants – and Toon fans have responded on Twitter.
Newcastle are set to finally end Mike Ashley’s 13-year tenure at the club as Amanda Staveley’s takeover edges closer, and that has seen many players linked with a move to St. James’ Park ahead of the summer window.
The likes of Philippe Coutinho, Antoine Griezmann, Dries Mertens, Edinson Cavani, Willian and more have all been linked with a move to Tyneside – while Steve Bruce’s place as manager is also under threat.
Brazilian outlet Globo Esporte have claimed that Newcastle want 20-year-old Tete, but face competition from Premier League top-four outfit Leicester City. The Brazil Under-20 international has starred in his early stages, showing enormous potential.
However, Tete recently told Esporte Interativo: “Three clubs are part of my dream in Europe. Barcelona, Manchester United and Liverpool. Gigantic clubs with fantastic managers and an incredible number of trophies. Those clubs are incredible.”
Newcastle have been told they would have to spend a whopping £61million to sign wonderkid Tete, who has had a hand in 16 goals during 36 Shakhtar senior appearances – including a Champions League strike this season against Dinamo Zagreb.
Toon supporters have reacted to the reported news that their club are interested in signing Tete from Shakhtar ahead of the summer window – and fans are disagreeing, with some keen to see Tete in black and white, while others not so much.
Very similar player to Ben Arfa.

Now you’re talking. Never heard of him but €70m is the minimum we should now be paying for players no one has heard of.
