Newcastle fans react as club confirms double swoop for Kyle Scott and Jake Turner

After a slow and quiet summer, Newcastle United have confirmed on their official website a double swoop for Kyle Scott and Jake Turner.

Midfielder Scott was available on a free transfer after leaving Chelsea this summer while goalkeeper Turner comes in from Bolton.

Turner said: “It’s excellent for me, and I can’t wait to get started. Stepping up to a Premier League club is massive. Playing in the Premier League is a dream – so we’ll see what happens. It’s a massive club, and I can’t wait to get going.”

Meanwhile, Scott stated: “I’m really excited. Newcastle is a massive club with massive history, but for young kids there is an opportunity – you see that with (Sean) Longstaff and what he did last year, and it’s a good opportunity for me.”

But while the duo may represent a decent little bit of business and the chance to plump up the squad for nothing, many Newcastle fans took to Twitter to ask for signings who are ready to go right into the first team.

Others fear that they may well be cut-price replacements for players who are on their way, given Mike Ashley’s tendency to tear the rug from underneath his managers.
