Newcastle fans react as club confirms Dan Barlaser has been loaned to Rotherham

Newcastle United have loaned Dan Barlaser to Rotherham United after he signed a new deal with the club, according to their official website.

The midfielder has extended his current Magpies contract – although the club post doesn’t say how long for – before moving into League One.

He spent last season in the third tier with Accrington Stanley and will be looking to help the Millers gain promotion back into the Championship under Paul Warne.

That deal just continues the exodus with Ayoze Perez looking set to follow Rafa Benitez out of the club’s exit door – and Salomon Rondon’s chances of coming back extremely remote.

Some of the fans think Barlaser is lucky he won’t be around the club next season as it descends further into a mess under Mike Ashley, with no real idea of who will be at the helm.

Relegation looks a very real danger now, and some fans are cheekily pointing out that EFL experience may stand Barlaser in good stead when he does eventually return to Newcastle once his one-year loan deal is over…
