Newcastle fans react as Arsenal reportedly eye Freddie Woodman

A number of Newcastle United fans have taken to Twitter to discuss Freddie Woodman’s future following a report from Football London claiming that Arsenal are keen on the goalkeeper.

The Gunners are looking to strengthen their options between the sticks in this window. Alex Runarsson has struggled to fill the void left by Emi Martinez in the summer.

And according to Football London, Woodman is a goalkeeper Arsenal have had their eye on since the summer. It is noted that his dad works as the Head of Goalkeeping with the Gunners’ under-23s.

The 23-year-old is yet to make his Premier League debut for the Magpies. But he is making a major impression during his second loan spell at Swansea City.

Woodman has kept 14 clean sheets in the Championship this season. That leaves him four clear of anyone else in the division. So it is not difficult to see why Arsenal are monitoring his situation.

If it is down to the Newcastle fans however, it would appear that Woodman will be going nowhere in the summer.

Steve Bruce is currently working with two brilliant goalkeepers in Martin Dubravka and Karl Darlow. Nevertheless, it appears that the supporters would rather see one of those two leave St James’ Park to make room for Woodman.

In fact, a couple of fans have insisted that the youngster should be promoted to first choice upon his return ahead of next season.
