Leicester City summer signing Ayoze Perez has posted a Newcastle United throwback on Twitter, in the form of a video from the training ground a year on – and Toon fans have replied to the Spaniard’s upload.

The 25-year-old joined Brendan Rodgers’ side for £30million (Independent) earlier this summer from Newcastle, after Perez spent five years on Tyneside since joining the club from minnows Tenerife in 2014.

Perez shone for Newcastle last term, in what was arguably his best period in a Toon shirt. He scored 48 goals in five seasons at Newcastle, but 13 of those came last season as well as adding four assists.

It saw Leicester spend big on the versatile attacker. Now a couple of weeks on since the move, Perez posted a Newcastle throwback of an incredible bit of skill that dumbfounded goalkeeper Rob Elliot in Newcastle training.

Newcastle are yet to replace the loss of Perez, with many fans fuming that the club has let him go. However, reports from Germany have claimed that the club are closing in on a £36million move for Brazilian ace Joelinton.

Toon fans reacted to Perez’s upload with some urging the attacker to return to Tyneside immediately, while others reminisced about the quality of their former star.
