Ollie Watkins is likely to be a man in-demand after reports claimed the Brentford striker has a £18million release clause in his contract after the Bees failed to gain promotion – and Newcastle supporters have reacted on Twitter.
Watkins, 23, has been in sensational form for Thomas Frank’s side – scoring 26 goals and propelling his side into the Championship play-offs. But his side lost in extra-time to Fulham at Wembley on Tuesday night.
The Telegraph have claimed that because Brentford have failed to gain promotion, Watkins will be allowed to go for just £18million due to an exit clause in his current deal. Aston Villa are leading the charge for his signature.

Meanwhile, Crystal Palace and Sheffield United are interested. But Watkins is young, English and offers versatility both out wide an up front – and that is likely to mean plenty of Premier League clubs are considering a move.
Newcastle need a striker after Joelinton struggled in his first season. Dwight Gayle and Yoshinori Muto have been linked with an exit, and Watkins could be targeted by the Toon – especially due to his release clause.
Newcastle supporters responded to the reported news that Watkins could leave Brentford for just £18million in the coming months – and many urged the Toon to lure Watkins north to Tyneside from Griffin Park.
