Rafa Benitez has rubbed salt in the wounds of Newcastle United supporters after announcing the signing of Salomon Rondon from West Bromwich Albion at new club Dalian Yifang.
Rondon, 30, starred for Newcastle on loan last season. He spearheaded the attack, finding the back of the net 13 times but also proving somewhat creative for the Toon – bringing the likes of Ayoze Perez into play.
But Newcastle seemingly opted against signing the Venezuela international on a permanent basis from West Brom this summer, despite having a relatively cheap £16.5million release clause in his contract.
It is believed that because Rondon is now 30 years of age, he did not fit in with owner Mike Ashley’s recruitment policy. Benitez announced the signing of Rondon, which is his first Dalian Yifang recruit.

Unpopular Toon supremo Ashley wants to bring in players with plenty of resale value. It is largely why he was willing to break Newcastle’s transfer record in January to sign Miguel Almiron.
Newcastle fans have reacted to the post by former manager Benitez, as the Spaniard confirmed the signing of Rondon – which sees the target man become one of Yifang’s four foreign players.
He will team up with Yannick Carrasco, Emmanuel Boateng and Marek Hamsik and Newcastle fans are angered, frustrated and upset in equal measure – replying to Benitez’s message on Twitter.
