Newcastle United defender Florian Lejeune looks set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines after being stretchered off against Crystal Palace on Saturday.
The Frenchman went down awkwardly after challenging Andros Townsend in a 50-50 and was in agony as club medics rushed onto the field to treat him.

Lejeune will now be assessed, but manager Rafa Benitez appears not to hold out much hope of a swift return.
He said after the game (quoted by Omnisport): “Lejeune seems bad. It was the other knee [to last time].
“We have to wait to see what the doctor says. We need to assess him, but it seems bad. He felt a click in his knee and it felt bad.”
The Telegraph’s Luke Edwards reported that the ex-Manchester City man suffered serious damage to his cruciate ligament.

It is rotten luck for Lejeune, who had been impressing the Newcastle faithful since returning to action from a previous knee injury that ruled him out since July 2018.
He required surgery for that, and hopefully the player will not have to undergo another operation for his new injury.
Newcastle fans react
Concerned neutrals jumped on Twitter to wish Lejeune well following his latest setback, with Newcastle supporters particularly sympathetic towards their injury prone player:
