Newcastle fans rage at Joelinton after his FA Cup performance

Newcastle United were held to a 1-1 away draw by League One Rochdale on Saturday afternoon – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter ripped into Joelinton for his performance.

The Magpies could only manage a draw against the third-tier club in the FA Cup third round, which means their will be a replay at St James’ Park to decide who progresses further.

Miguel Almiron scored in the first-half for the visitors to give the Premier League outfit an advantage, but Rochdale thoroughly deserved their equaliser and were the much better team in the second-half.

Aaron Wilbraham, 40, popped up with a late equaliser to earn a cup replay and the underdogs also missed the chance of a winner in the closing stages.

A selection of Newcastle supporters on social media couldn’t help vent their frustration at Joelinton following his latest display.

Manager Steve Bruce kept a strong side to face Rochdale, which meant Joelinton retaining his spot and it looked an ideal fixture for him to get some confidence in front of goal.

But he’s still managed just one goal all season since his £40million (BBC) arrival in the summer from Hoffenheim and didn’t help himself at the weekend.

The 23-year-old Brazilian lost possession in the build up to Rochdale’s equaliser, as well as offering very little goal threat against a League One team and his confidence looks rock bottom.
