Newcastle fans rage at defender DeAndre Yedlin for display against Oxford

Newcastle United managed to squeeze past League One opposition Oxford United in midweek during an FA Cup fourth round replay – and some of the club’s fans on Twitter were left fuming with the performance of defender DeAndre Yedlin.

Steve Bruce’s side needed extra-time before ending up 3-2 victory at the Kassam Stadium, with substitute Allan Saint-Maximin firing in the winner in the 116th minute.

The Magpies avoided a cup upset, despite Oxford sending the game to extra-time when Nathan Holland volleyed in a 94th minute equaliser to make it 2-2.

Newcastle are still alive in the cup travel to Championship leaders West Brom in the fifth round, while in the Premier League they are currently sat seven points away from the relegation places in a decent position.

The 26-year-old right-back has had a spate of injuries disrupt his season so far and Tuesday night’s cup fixture was just his 15th appearance of the campaign across all competitions.

He certainly didn’t make the most of his opportunities when pushed into offensive positions and his delivery wasn’t good enough.
