Newcastle United suffered a crushing 5-2 defeat away to Leeds United on Wednesday night – but some of the club’s fans on Twitter did find a positive from the performance of Ryan Fraser on his return to the side.
Despite the teams being locked together at 2-2 midway through the second-half, Newcastle collapsed in the final stages at Elland Road to allow hosts Leeds to wrap up three points in the Premier League fixture.
Steve Bruce’s team were in the contest for large spells of the game, having said that Leeds were dominant with 69 per cent possession and attempted 25 shots.
It leaves the Magpies 14th in the league table and this weekend’s fixture at home to Fulham looks important, as they face Manchester City, Liverpool and Leicester City in the following league games.
A selection of Newcastle fans on social media wanted to give credit to their attacker Fraser for his contribution against Leeds.
The left-winger was back in the side after his recent absence with a thigh injury and marked his return with an assist for Ciaran Clark’s goal.
He got 75 minutes under his belt and was a main threat on the counter-attack for Newcastle with his speed, plus the team’s collapse came shortly after he left the pitch.
