Newcastle fans praise strike Callum Wilson for his latest Premier League performance
Newcastle United managed to grind out an impressive 0-0 draw at home to defending champions Liverpool on Wednesday night – and some of the club’s fans on Twitter applauded the contribution of their striker Callum Wilson.
Steve Bruce’s Newcastle put in an excellent performance in their Premier League fixture at St James’ Park, as they managed to take a point from table toppers Liverpool and finished 2020 on a positive note.
The Magpies were asked to do their fair share of defending, with goalkeeper Karl Darlow strengthening his claims for a possible England call-up with his display.
But unlike in previous games this season, Newcastle did look a real offensive threat whenever they had the ball and threatened the Liverpool goal on a couple of occasions.

A selection of Newcastle supporters on social media believe that their centre-forward Wilson was excellent last night.
The 28-year-old is a bullish attacker that asked questions of the Liverpool backline with his physicality, pace and work-rate, as he worked his socks off in the final third of the pitch to try give the defence some respite.
He nearly scored his ninth goal of the Premier League season with an effort from an acute angle, but he was denied by goalkeeper Alisson Becker at the near-post.
Here are some Newcastle fans discussing Wilson:
Wilson excellent up top, worked hard and made a nuisance of himself. Just good to see the battling qualities all round for a change, effort levels right up #NUFC

It’s such a shame that we haven’t been able to appreciate Wilson in the stadium yet – cheer for him and sing his name

Callum Wilson man, what a player he is. Even on a day like today, where he's not scoring goals, he still shines on the pitch.
Holds the ball up so well, makes a nuisance of himself, and is really decisive and reliable when on the ball. Proper intelligent player as well. #NUFC

How good is Wilson, how he was never picked up from another team I'll never know, but pleased he wasn't. Haway the lads.#NUFC
