Newcastle fans praise Karl Darlow performance despite Manchester United defeat
Newcastle United suffered a loss against Manchester United on Saturday night – but some of the club’s supporters on Twitter did pick out goalkeeper Karl Darlow as one positive.
The Magpies suffered a 4-1 defeat at St James’ Park in the Premier League despite the fact the two teams were locked together at 1-1 going into the opening stages.
Steve Bruce’s side took an early lead via Luka Shaw’s own goal in the second minute, but Anthony Martial’s equaliser meant the teams were level at half-time.
Bruno Fernandes saw a spot-kick saved in the second-half, but he eventually gave visitors United the lead in the 86th minute and there were further goals in added time from Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Marcus Rashford

A selection of Newcastle supporters on social media rallied behind shot-stopper Darlow following his efforts in the defeat, with one suggesting he’s looked “transformed” with his performances at the start of the campaign.
The 30-year-old has played in the opening five league games of the season due to an injury to regular number one Martin Dubravka and he’s certainly seized his opportunity.
He made a brilliant save from Fernandes’ penalty, as well as some other notable blocks in the match and he was let down in the closing stages by a late Man United show.
He played just seven times in the previous two seasons and is a long-term servant since his arrival on Tyneside in 2014, which is why some are suggesting he may have done enough to nail down a regular spot in the XI.
Here are some Newcastle fans discussing Darlow:
Darlow is seriously gonna give Dubravka something to fight for when he comes back
