Newcastle fans praise Javier Manquillo after his performance against West Ham

Newcastle United started their Premier League season with an impressive win away to West Ham on Saturday night – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter raved about defender Javier Manquillo for his performance.

Steve Bruce’s side travelled to the London Stadium and managed to record a 2-0 victory, which was throughly deserved on the balance of play.

It was two new Magpies signings that stole the show, with centre-forward Callum Wilson scoring a close-range finish in the 56th minute.

Jeff Hendrick then wrapped up the three points in the closing stages with a rocket inside the box that flew past the goalkeeper.

Newcastle have managed to complete some eye-catching business so far in the summer transfer window and debutants Wilson, Hendrick and Jamal Lewis all impressed against the Hammers.

A selection of Newcastle supporters on social media picked out Manquillo though for his contribution despite some standout performances from debutants.

The 26-year-old right-back was a constant attacking threat when pushing forward and defensively stuck to his task well too to help earn a clean sheet.
