Newcastle fans praise Jamal Lewis for his display in the win over Everton

Newcastle United picked up a surprise win away at Everton on Saturday afternoon – and some of the club’s fans on Twitter were wowed by the performance of their defender Jamal Lewis.

Steve Bruce’s side travelled to Goodison Park off the back of no wins in nine Premier League games, but ended that duck in impressive style.

The Magpies put in a much more committed display to win 2-0 at Everton, as Callum Wilson stole the headlines with his two second-half goals.

Everton knew that a victory would lift them up to fifth in the league standings, but visitors Newcastle shocked them and go into their next match at home to Crystal Palace with real confidence.

Despite Wilson being the match-winner, a selection of Newcastle supporters on social media felt that left-back Lewis deserved a special mention.

The 23-year-old defender assisted the striker’s second goal in stoppage time with a great cross-field pass, plus he looked to get forward whenever he could on the left flank.

He’s had a mixed season so far since he joined in the summer from Norwich City, but looked a lot more assured this weekend and will hope to build on it now.
