Newcastle United suffered back-to-back defeats in the Premier League by losing to Watford on Saturday – but some of the club’s supporters on Twitter did at least find some positivity from the performance of their defender and captain Jamaal Lascelles.
After losing 5-0 to Manchester City in midweek, Steve Bruce’s team travelled to Vicarage Road with a point to prove and had a one-goal lead at half-time courtesy of Dwight Gayle’s close-range goal.
The Magpies looked a real threat in the opening 45 minutes, but Watford took a big step towards Premier League safety with Troy Deeney scoring two penalties in the second period and earning the hosts a 2-1 win.
Newcastle appear to have lost some momentum since they pulled far away from the relegation zone and won’t want to season to finish on a negative with three fixtures remaining for them.

A selection of Newcastle supporters on social media were left disappointed following the team’s latest defeat, but felt that Lascelles was a bright spark for them.
The 26-year-old centre-back looked solid at the back with one brilliant goal-line clearance, while others around him disappointed and gave away two costly penalties during the second-half.
