Newcastle United secured a dramatic 1-1 draw against Liverpool on Saturday afternoon – and some of the club’s fans on Twitter were majorly impressed with the performance of their star Jacob Murphy.

The Magpies left Anfield with a point from the Premier League fixture, as Joe Willock netted in stoppage time to steal a point.

Mohamed Salah’s stunning opener in the third minute gave the lead to Liverpool, who had a series of chances to add a second throughout the game.

Newcastle continued to fight and there was a real controversial moment when Callum Wilson’s goal in the closing stages was ruled out by VAR after the ball struck his hand.

However, there was still time afterwards for on-loan Arsenal man Joe Willock to score off the bench for the second game in a row.

The result means Steve Bruce’s side are now nine points above the relegation zone, which surely guarantees them a spot in the Premier League once again next season.

Murphy, 26, received widespread praise on social media after his individual effort against Liverpool.

The English speedster is an attacking winger by trade, but he’s done a job in recent games as a right-back.

He was superb in the right wing-back position at Anfield with his defensive work against Sadio Mane and Andy Robertson, as well as providing a threat when he went forward.

Here are some Newcastle fans discussing Murphy:
