Christian Atsu completed 90 minutes in the defeat to Manchester United on Wednesday night – and some Newcastle United fans on Twitter praised him for his display.
The Magpies were beaten 2-0 at St James’ Park in the Premier League, as Romelu Lukaku and Marcus Rashford scored in the second-half for the visitors.
It means that Rafael Benitez’s team remain 15th in the table and are just two points above the relegation places.
Newcastle were well in the contest against Manchester United and had several attempts on David De Gea’s goal.
Atsu was the best creative force for the Toon and found himself in some great goalscoring positions, but unfortunately just lacked the clinical touch.
A selection of Newcastle fans on social media still credited the 26-year-old for his battling display and believe he is starting to improve.
The left-winger showed his pace and dribbling can help him carve out opportunities in front of goal, but needs to work on his finishing after some tame efforts.
One Newcastle fan stated that he is this season’s Mo Diame, who was one of the standout performers in the last campaign for Newcastle
