Newcastle United supporters are dreaming of a reportedly imminent takeover and fans have begun to speculate on Twitter over new, big-name signings this summer – and many would be open to Arturo Vidal heading to St. James’ Park.
Amanda Staveley’s attempts to buy Newcastle for the last three years has seemingly come to fruition, as her group PCP Capital Partners leads a takeover bid to finally oust Mike Ashley from his 13-year spell as owner.
Financially backed by the Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund (PIF), Staveley will reportedly run proceedings – but her group will only boast a 10% stake. PIF will own 80%, and Britain’s second wealthiest family, the Reuben Brothers, will also have 10%.

Such talk over a £300million takeover is music to Newcastle supporters’ ears, who have been forced to put up with Ashley. Now, going forward, Toon fans are excited and some have started suggesting which players they want this summer.
Chilean midfielder Vidal, 32, is only on the fringes at Barcelona and becomes the second big name to be linked – with his teammate Antoine Griezmann apparently a target (SportMediaset). Indeed, Vidal has started just 13 of his 31 outings this term.
Vidal, who is set to enter the final 12 months of his contract, cost Barcelona £27million in the summer of 2018, as per the Guardian. Likely to be available for a lot cheaper than that, Newcastle fans have discussed the midfielder on Twitter.
