Newcastle United have been in a precarious position at times this season, but the way the battle for survival has unfolded has seen them move out of trouble in recent months.

Fulham and Huddersfield are already gone – and their fate has been sealed for quite some time – leaving just one more side facing the trap door.

Cardiff City are staring down the barrel at the moment, after another defeat last night, this time at the hands of champions Manchester City.

That 2-0 scoreline was sealed by goals from Kevin de Bruyne and Leroy Sane, and Newcastle supporters have started to look at their run-in by comparison to that of the Bluebirds to assess their survival chances.

Long story short, many Newcastle fans on Twitter now feel that they’re safe or just one win away from survival.

After a season of underinvestment and unrest once more, being out of the relegation dogfight with weeks of the season remaining would be a great achievement by Rafa Benitez and his players.

With potential hopes for better next season, the Magpies fans are close to being able to relax this term, having examined the games to come.
