Newcastle United secured a pre-season victory over Barnsley on Saturday afternoon – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter were particularly impressed with the impact of Jacob Murphy.
Steve Bruce’s team managed a 2-1 win thanks to Andy Carroll’s opening goal, plus a penalty from attacker Murphy.
Murphy was introduced to the action midway through the second-half for the Magpies and he made an immediate impact, as his effort was blocked by a goal-line clearance.
The 25-year-old then earned the Toon a penalty after being fouled in the box and dispatched the resulting spot-kick to make a case for himself in the pre-season fixture.
He spent the 2019/20 season away from St James’ Park on loan at Sheffield Wednesday in the Championship, scoring nine goals and supplying six assists in return.
He’s a right-winger that possesses plenty of pace and trickery, but he’s still waiting for his Newcastle career to take off and there are some who are praying it could still happen for him.

A selection of Newcastle supporters on social media have claimed they would like to see Murphy get his chance in the first-team in the upcoming campaign and would like him stay.
