Newcastle United’s Ryan Fraser has explained it’s a “must-win” game this week for his side against Aston Villa – and some of the club’s frustrated supporters on Twitter believe that’s a message that needs reiterating to manager Steve Bruce.
The Magpies have been fully sucked into a relegation fight amid their inconsistent form in the last couple of months.
They currently find themselves 16th in the Premier League table, with 17th-placed Brighton and 18th-placed Fulham just a point behind them.
Newcastle host Aston Villa next on Friday night in the Premier League.
They go into the match off the back of back-to-back draws with West Brom and Wolverhampton Wanderers.
27-year-old attacker Fraser has commented ahead of the Villa fixture.
“We try focus on this game on Friday (against Villa). We feel it’s a must-win, we’ve got to win these games so we’ll do everything we can do that,” Fraser said, as quoted by Newcastle official Twitter account.

A selection of Newcastle supporters on social media believe a winning mentality is lacking right now at St James’ Park, with plenty putting the blame at the door of the manager.
Bruce has tried to implement a more expansive style to his side in recent times, but the fact he’s missing key forwards Miguel Almiron, Callum Wilson and Allan Saint-Maximin is not helpful.
It’s worth noting that the Magpies have a showdown fixture away to Brighton after the Villa match.
