Newcastle fans hail Emil Krafth for performance in Burnley victory

Newcastle United recorded a home win against Burnley on Saturday night in their final game before the international break – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter were left hailing defender Emil Krafth for his performance.

Steve Bruce’s side have now earned seven points from their opening four Premier League games following a 3-1 victory against Burnley at St James’ Park.

Allan Saint-Maximin scored the opener in the first-half with a brilliant solo goal, before the visitors were much improved in the second-half and equalised on the hour mark through Ashley Westwood.

But Saint-Maximin turned provider to restore Newcastle’s lead, as he whipped in a perfect cross for Callum Wilson to tap in from close-range.

Wilson converted a penalty late on to wrap up the points and it’s been a strong start to the new campaign.

Despite an eye-catching contribution from Saint-Maximin, a selection of Newcastle supporters on social media believe that Krafth deserved big credit for his efforts.

The 26-year-old defender had been an unused substitute in the opening three league games of the season, but he was in the starting XI against Burnley and he impressed.

The Swedish right-back was defensively solid in wide areas, plus he showed his versatility during the second-half when he switched to centre-back and was equally comfortable.
