Newcastle United manager Steve Bruce has reportedly scheduled six days off from nine for his squad during the international break – and some of the club’s fans on Twitter are raging with the report.

According to the Daily Mail, the Magpies boss Bruce has given his group of players six days off training during the internationals.

There are individuals currently away with their countries during the two-week break, but the others have a lightweight training schedule at Newcastle.

Newcastle’s results lately has seen them dragged firmly into the relegation battle.

The Toon are 17th in the Premier League table as it stands, just two points above 18th-placed Fulham.

They were thrashed 3-0 away to Brighton at the weekend, while before that they earned just three points with fixtures against Aston Villa, West Brom and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

A selection of Newcastle supporters on social media are outraged with Bruce’s reported decision, and feel the players should be back on the training ground immediately to try turn things around.

Despite looking fairly comfortable in the league at one stage, they are right in the thick now of a potential relegation.

There is an opportunity now for players to rest up after a hectic fixture schedule, but at the same time plenty of work needs to be done improving a side that look offensively blunt right now.
