Newcastle United drew 1-1 against Watford at St James’ Park in the Premier League – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter voiced their frustration towards attacker Miguel Almiron for his display.
The Magpies had to settle for a point, as Fabian Schar’s strike ruled out an early goal from Will Hughes in the first-half.
Steve Bruce’s team have four points from four league games going into the international break and it’s been a mediocre start to the campaign.
They have had the highs of winning away at Tottenham so far, but there is still a lack of a clinical touch in the final third and it’s something that manager Bruce needs to try find a solution for.
Newcastle now have a break before they return to action on 14 September away at early league leaders Liverpool.
A selection of Newcastle supporters on social media criticised Almiron for his display and believe he wasn’t good enough for them against Watford.
The 25-year-old attacker was caught offside five times during the match, which is even more frustrating considering he has pace to burn and can afford to give defenders an advantage.
He spurned a good opportunity to score and has now played 14 first-team games for the club without a goal or assist.
The Paraguay international can’t be faulted for his work-rate or the excitement he can bring to the attack with his speed, but a lack of end product is a major issue for him that now has some supporters questioning him too.
Here are some Newcastle fans on Almiron:
We were lucky and unlucky to get a draw today. Does that make sense 🤣 first half they obviously didn’t have a game plan, second half came out stronger. A LOT of frustrating times today and Almiron is just the most frustrating player 😭😭 #NUFC

Think Almiron lives in the offside position. Offside more than Papiss Cisse

Almiron once again absolutely diabolical in the final third. Sinking feeling we have a dud on our hands. #NUFC

Fair result I thought. Both has chances. Almiron needs that first goal. He’s almost trying too hard #nufc

Ok, I think Almiron’s honeymoon period is over now…he needs to deliver NOW!
If we just wanted to a runner we could’ve signed Bolt for half the price….end product please! #nufc
P.s. This is NOT a meltdown 😂

Almiron has zero end product, getting to be a bit of a worry now #nufc

Almiron has to do better and shocked by how well hit that was from Hayden. #nufc
