Newcastle United lost in the Premier League to West Ham, and fans were far from happy with Anthony Gordon.

The Magpies were poor against West Ham on Sunday, gifting the Hammers just their second win of the season.

Eddie Howe’s tactics failed on the day, and it was a bleak afternoon for Newcastle, particularly in the first half, which led to Howe making a triple substitution at half-time.

One of the players substituted was Anthony Gordon, who has come under heavy criticism on social media.

Newcastle fans are beginning to talk about Anthony Gordon

Supporters flocked to X during the game to voice their concerns about Gordon, with very few positive comments.

“Anthony Gordon has 0 G/A in his last 18 PL games. When are we going to start talking about it? He’s been embarrassing for a while now,” one fan wrote.

One fan said: “Starting to get concerned about Anthony Gordon’s league form. Given the ball away 5 times in the opening 15 minutes (including for the ‘pen’) and almost every pass has been backwards. Ability’s undeniable, but his confidence and decision-making are all over the place.”

Another wrote: “Anthony Gordon is very lightweight and gives the ball away far too much for somebody that’s meant to be a good player.”

A third added: “Anthony Gordon is very, very lucky here. That kid thinks he’s a f—- superstar when he is far from it. Losing the ball constantly. Wake the f— up.”

Others highlighted his lack of end product: “Anthony Gordon: no goals or assists in his last 18 PL games. One of the worst stats I’ve ever heard.”

“Anthony Gordon, ‘mentality monster,’ is now without a goal contribution in the Premier League in 19 (NINETEEN) games. Should be spoken about more, get a grip,” a final notes.

Does Anthony Gordon need to be dropped for Newcastle?

Gordon’s form is a concern for Newcastle. For a winger to go 19 league games without a single goal contribution is a worrying statistic.

That said, his qualities are undeniable, and Gordon has proven his ability on the biggest stage this season in the Champions League.

It may just be a case of when one goes in, more will follow – but right now it is a major issue, especially when results are not going Newcastle’s way.
