Newcastle fans feel Allan Saint-Maximin is being rushed back

Newcastle United have confirmed that Allan Saint-Maximin is set to be back in their squad on Saturday against Brighton – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter are fuming and feel he’s being rushed back.

Manager Steve Bruce has confirmed (official website) that the 22-year-old is scheduled to be in the match day squad for the Premier League fixture against Brighton.

The left-winger has had a hamstring problem recently and it’s meant he’s only made two appearances since he move to St James’ Park in the summer.

Saint-Maximin is a highly-rated attacker that could be back in contention, while Andy Carroll is also set to be in the squad for the first time since he rejoined the club.

The Frenchman is a wide player with express pace and lots of trickery, but it’s been a difficult start to life in English football since his £16.5million (BBC) arrival.

Bruce’s team has definitely lacked quality in the final third and the hope is that Saint-Maximin can help boost the goal output.

A selection of Newcastle supporters on social media are concerned that Saint-Maximin is being rushed back and they don’t want him to aggravate his injury.

It seems unlikely that he will be handed a runout until he’s fully ready, especially considering the attention to detail in football regarding physiotherapy.

Here are some Newcastle fans commenting on Saint-Maximin:
