Newcastle United supporters have expressed their excitement about one of the club’s youngsters on social media.
Last night, the club’s U21s were in action against Bolton Wanderers in the Papa John’s Trophy, with Elliot Anderson making headlines.
The Magpies lost the game 3-2 at the University of Bolton Stadium, with goals for the hosts coming from Jak Hickman, Arthur Gnahoua and Jamie Mascoll.

Newcastle actually led 2-0 in the match thanks to a double from the superb Anderson, but could not prevent a comeback from Bolton.
Anderson was a huge threat for Newcastle, and his first goal was a very nice left-footed finish from a tight angle after robbing possession high up the pitch.
And his second goal was an immaculately taken, first-time volleyed chip from the corner of the penalty area.
He looked good to hit a hat-trick but was taken off which will no doubt lead to speculation about a possible first-team call-up this weekend.
Anderson has recently been training with the first-team and so, a promotion from Steve Bruce may not be entirely out of the question.

Anderson certainly seems to have an impressive maturity about him, evidenced by the fact he actually wore the captain’s armband last night.
On social media, a number of Newcastle fans expressed their excitement over the youngster, who looks like he could be a real gem:
