Newcastle fans excited after being linked with Celtic 22-year-old

Newcastle United have been linked with a move for Celtic’s Kristoffer Ajer – and some of the club’s fans on Twitter have responded with real excitement to the transfer speculation.

The Daily Mail claims that Newcastle are lining up a potential £8million bid for the defender.

It is explained that Scottish giants Celtic risk losing him for cheaper than his £35million valuation this summer, as his contract is due to expire at the end of next season.

The report explains that the centre-back would be open to joining a Premier League club and Norway’s international manager is urging him to make a switch to England, but Italian teams are also mentioned as potential suitors.

Ajer, 22, is a physical Norwegian centre-half that is great in the air, and he’s won three league titles at Parkhead.

But perhaps his great attribute is his calmness on the ball, and the way he can play out from the defence.

Surely though their potential £8million bid is so far off what Celtic would consider accepting, plus there is also the fact the Toon are battling against relegation and it’s unclear if they’ll still be in the Premier League next season.
