Newcastle reportedly want Michael Emenalo as director of football and have made him their first choice – prompting reaction from Toon fans.
Emenalo, 56, masterminded Chelsea’s transfer activity for six years; 2011 and 2017. He brought in the likes of Eden Hazard and Mo Salah.
Having then moved to Monaco for two years, the ex-Nigeria international is now without a club and has been since 2019. Wright suggested Newcastle.
The Arsenal legend said the Toon’s new owners should be looking at Emenalo, last month. It appears the Toon have heeded Wright’s advice.
The Telegraph says Newcastle are looking to bring Emenalo to the club, and talks are said to have started in Saudi Arabia – with Emenalo spotted.
It is also said that Emenalo is a big fan of Eddie Howe, with the latter finally being announced as Steve Bruce’s replacement on Tyneside on Monday.

What are Newcastle fans saying about Emenalo, amid reports?
Newcastle desperately need a director of football and really, it should have been installed a long time ago – even before the arrival of a manager.
But they have now got themselves a gaffer – with Howe inheriting a side that is yet to win. There are just over six weeks until the January window.
Newcastle need a director of football firmly in place by December, to start planning and opening discussions for January. Emenalo talks are underway.
Newcastle fans have had their say on the potential appointment of Emenalo – who worked wonders at Chelsea. Many Toon fans are excited.
