Newcastle fans discuss possible Matt Ritchie exit

Newcastle fans have been reacting to reports Matt Ritchie could be leaving the club this window – as part of a move to get Callum Wilson in.

The winger and left-back has supposedly been targeted by his former club Bournemouth according to The Northern Echo, with the Magpies very keen to sign England international Wilson.

Steve Bruce apparently only has around £35 million to spend, meaning the northeast side might need to get creative to land certain targets.

Wilson is supposedly one of the manager’s top targets, and Ritchie could be used as a sweetener.

The 30-year-old has been with Newcastle since the summer of 2016 and has largely been a popular figure amongst Newcastle supporters.

His work-rate is something fans often get behind, and his versatility to be able to fill in at left-back or left wing-back has made him a very handy member of the squad.

Newcastle’s need for a striker is large, after Joelinton really struggled in his first season.

The clamour for Wilson is certainly there, given he has proven he can score goals in the Premier League.

Fans were fairly divided about the idea of the club using Ritchie to land Wilson – some don’t want to see him go, while others see it as needs-must:
