Newcastle United earned a point in an even clash against Brighton & Hove Albion at the Amex Stadium on Monday night and Toon supporters have discussed Miguel Almiron’s performance in the final third.
In what was an equal game, neither side really did enough to win the match – with both teams having already secured Premier League safety. A dead rubber on paper, and little more in reality.
Steve Bruce was forced to field a makeshift defence that consisted of Emil Krafth and Danny Rose either side of Federico Fernandez in off-looking back three. Javi Manquillo and Matt Ritchie played as full-backs.

Andy Carroll perhaps boasted the best chance of the match in the final minutes of the match, as Ritchie’s cross gave the target man the chance to score his first goal at Newcastle in his second spell – but he glanced it wide.
Almiron, a 26-time international, has had a hand in 10 goals during his 40 appearances this season and while he injected pace at times – he simply could not make the difference. He was replaced by Valentino Lazaro late on.
Toon fans discussed the South American playmaker’s performance, and many were frustrated with the former Atlanta United ace as he failed to give Newcastle the required creative spark. Many questioned his decision making.
