Matt Ritchie is back in training with the Newcastle United first-team.
Steve Bruce has a selection dilemma to make after the international break. With the team on red-hot form, can he justify dropping anyone to make room for Ritchie?
Ritchie was arguably Newcastle’s best player at the start of the season. However, the versatile 30-year-old picked up an injury when he was fouled by Hamza Choudhury in August.
Without Ritchie, Newcastle struggled for a while. But Bruce seems to have found a winning formula now. Three wins and a draw in the last five matches has propelled the Magpies up the league table.
Ritchie is able to play at left-back, in midfield or as a winger. But where does he fit in at the moment? Newcastle’s starting line-up has provided a foundation for success in recent weeks.
Newcastle fans took to Twitter to discuss this conundrum. Ritchie has been training and is likely to be passed fir for the upcoming game against Aston Villa. Here are some tweets from fans debating the Ritchie dilemma.
Should always be a place for Ritchie in our team. Could play nearly anywhere for me, he’d make a difference

Who you dropping though? Willems has been one of our best players

What about RW? Even just to give Miggy a push!

Agreed. Might have to pick our poison properly. Let Ritchie come in as a w or wb spelling both Willems or ASM.

To be fair, he need to wait for chance on the bench atm or just sub for last 15 mins instead of Atsu
