Newcastle fans discuss Elliot Anderson after hat-trick for Under-23 side
Newcastle United eased past Nottingham Forest’s Under-23 side on Monday night – and Toon fans have applauded Elliot Anderson after his hat-trick.
Anderson, 19, was brilliant on Monday. Coming into the match, Elliot Dickman’s side had gone three Premier League 2 games without a win.
Having beaten north east rivals Sunderland and Middlesbrough in October, The Toon’s second string then lost to Wolves and drew with Norwich.
They were hammered 5-0 by Southampton last time out, but it got a response. On Monday, Anderson and co. were dominant throughout.
Scotland Under-21 international Anderson was excellent. He netted a superb hat-trick, despite playing in the middle of the park.
What are Newcastle fans saying about Anderson after hat-trick?
Newcastle and Eddie Howe need a midfielder. Jonjo Shelvey looks as if he will be one of the first names on the team sheet, under the new Toon boss.
As a deep-lying, defensive midfielder – Shelvey will need a more attacking midfielder alongside him in the middle of the park.
Joe Willock started on Saturday afternoon, and the £25million signing will be first choice. Isaac Hayden will be cover for Shelvey, or likely to be.
Cover for Willock? Jeff Hendrick has not impressed at Newcastle. Andersen, under Howe, could be that man. Toon fans think so, after his hat-trick.
