Freddie Woodman has completed a loan move to Swansea City – and some Newcastle United fans on Twitter are delighted with the news.
The Magpies have confirmed on their official website that the 22-year-old has signed a new contract that keeps him at St James’ Park until 2021.
He has also moved to Championship outfit Swansea for the entire 2019/20 campaign for a season-long loan.
Woodman is departing on his fifth loan spell away from Newcastle, but is still a promising young talent with a lot of potential.
The 22-year-old has been involved in various England youth teams right up to the Under-21 level and is expected to be a real star in the future.
He was restricted to just three senior appearances at St James’ Park last season due to Martin Dubravka’s form and Newcastle boss Steve Bruce has granted his temporary exit.
A selection of Newcastle supporters are confident that a year with Swansea could be the making of their young goalkeeper.
Woodman has previously impressed with brief spells in Scotland, but a full campaign of being a number one goalkeeper in the Championship will really rest him.
Here are some Newcastle fans commenting on Woodman:
Brilliant club to go on loan to. Hopefully he can claim the #1 shirt there and return next season and challenge dubs.

But should have happened LAST YEAR.

Good move given the Swansea manager’s links with England youth teams. Contract extension until 2021 doesn’t suggest a long term future though
