Newcastle United duo Matt Ritchie and Jonjo Shelvey have both signed new contracts at St James’ Park – but some of the club’s fans have still been left frustrated and want to secure the future of Matty Longstaff.
The Magpies confirmed (official website) that full-back Ritchie and midfielder Shelvey have signed fresh deals that keep them at the club until 2023.
They are both considered senior stars in Steve Bruce’s squad and look set to remain part of the plans moving forward.

A selection of Newcastle supporters on social media have responded to the news and are more concerned about their young star Longstaff.
Longstaff has made his breakthrough to the senior team this campaign and scored three goals in 12 games across all competitions so far.
The 19-year-old is a central midfielder that is full of tremendous energy and he adds an extra spark when he pushes forward.
His older brother Sean is also a part of the first-team squad at Newcastle and the pair have come through the academy system.
Longstaff is out of contract at the end of the season as it stands and will depart in the summer unless he pens a fresh deal.
Manager Steve Bruce has claimed on Friday that Newcastle are still hopeful of sorting out his future.
“Obviously, Matt we all know what I think of Matty. I was the one who gave him his debut. We’re hoping we can get something sorted with him,” Bruce said, as quoted by the Chronicle.
