Newcastle United slumped to an away defeat at Southampton on Friday night – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter believe that their goalkeeper Karl Darlow was the one man that deserved credit for his individual performance.
The Magpies were beaten 2-0 at St Mary’s against Southampton, who have moved to the top of the Premier League table and thoroughly deserved the three points.
Che Adams opened the scoring in the first-half with a thunderous volley from close-range and Stuart Armstrong added a second in the 82nd minute with his low finish.
Steve Bruce’s side managed just two shots on target and 39 per cent possession in the league game, as hosts Southampton showed why they’re in such good form.

A selection of Newcastle supporters on social media were bitterly disappointed with their team’s display, but felt that their goalkeeper was at least one bright spark.
The 30-year-old has been the stand-in goalkeeper for injured teammate Martin Dubravka this season and he’s seized his opportunity by putting in several strong performances.
He may have conceded two on the night against Southampton, but he made a number of top saves to prevent them scoring more and he’s being bombarded with shots on goal every time he takes to the pitch.
