Newcastle United host Southampton on Saturday in the Premier League – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter have demanded that Joe Willock plays.

The Magpies are preparing to host Southampton at St James’ Park and both teams go into the fixture needing a result.

Steve Bruce’s side saw their weekend defeat to Crystal Palace halt any kind of revival in their season, while opponents Southampton were beaten 9-0 by Manchester United.

The Toon have lost six of their last seven games across all competitions and the pressure is on them to get a result this weekend.

A selection of Newcastle supporters on social media want to see January signing Willock come straight into the starting XI for them.

The 21-year-old has joined on loan until the end of the season from Arsenal and arrives as a highly-rated talent that has already played 78 first-team games for the Gunners.

He’s a box-to-box central midfielder that should inject some extra attacking impotence to the Magpies side, which is something that the fanbase are desperately crying out for and they want to see a far greater goal threat.

The £20-,000-a-week star (Spotrac) is the type of signing that can become a real favourite if he hits the ground running this weekend.
