Newcastle fans call for Elliot Anderson to be handed senior debut
Newcastle fans want to see Anderson in the first team.
Elliot Anderson scored for Newcastle in the Premier League 2 vs Stoke.
The young Magpies fell to a 3-2 defeat, yet the fans still want to see Anderson get his chance.
The forward could be in line for a full debut this season, especially given the Geordies’ injury issues.
Callum Wilson is currently out and Steve Bruce hasn’t put a timescale on his return (The Independent).
In Dwight Gayle and Joelinton the Geordies don’t have many replacement goalscorers.
Newcastle fans want to see Anderson
The 18-year-old attacking midfielder has scored 12 goals in 26 games for Newcastle’s U23 side (Transfermarkt).
He converted a penalty vs Stoke as Newcastle took the lead in a Premier League 2 game, leading to many fans urging him to get a senior chance.
So far this season the only man who’s consistently looked threatening for Newcastle has been Allan Saint-Maximin.
Giving the Frenchman someone to play alongside in attack would benefit him greatly.
Anderson has been handed two appearances for the senior side, both off the bench.
If Newcastle’s struggles continue, however, then Bruce could be forced to throw him a start.
Alongside the likes of Saint-Maximin, Joe Willock and Sean Longstaff the 18-year-old could be set to thrive.
Until he gets his chance, the fans will continue to call for the introduction of the teenager.
