Newcastle fans bemoan latest news about Callum Wilson
Some Newcastle United fans have reacted to an injury update about Callum Wilson.
According to the Shields Gazzette, the Magpies front man could be out for a number of weeks.
Steve Bruce confirmed after the draw with Southampton that his star striker suffered a thigh injury.
And now it has seemingly been confirmed he’s out for a while.
Muscle injuries seem to be the norm for Geordie players. Jonjo Shelvey spent a healthy portion of last season on the sidelines due to muscular problems. Isaac Hayden, too, has suffered some problems in his legs.
Meanwhile, Callum Wilson has been affected by three separate Hamstring issues since the start of 2021.
Questions need to be asked as Wilson joins extensive list
Last season was a fairly strange campaign for a number of reasons.
There was almost no break for players to allow for a proper recovery time.
So, if you were a player who had suffered from muscle injuries in your career, you were at danger.
But the extent to which Newcastle suffered is bizarre.
As a result, questions need to be asked of Newcastle, with Wilson joining the extensive list of players to suffer a muscle problem.
Are Bruce and his staff’s training methods causing problems? Or are the Magpies the unfortunate victims of misfortune?
When a raft of players training the same way week in, week out for a whole year suffer similar problems, it is hard to argue the latter.

This is why they gave Gayle a new 3 year deal. Cheaper than actually buying someone.

How bad is our club at updating fans/media on injuries BTW. Embarrassed to confirm as it reveals the utter mismanagement of this squad.— Joe McLaughlan (@Joe__McL) September 6, 2021
I have a sinking feeling about this season. If we lose Wilson, ASM and Willock for long periods then we are in serious, serious trouble. Keep them fit and we will be fine. #NUFC. https://t.co/XBmdtQsPfx— Belfast Magpie (@thebelfastmagp1) September 6, 2021
