Newcastle fans begin to warm to Steve Bruce after club posts Twitter video

Steve Bruce has walked into the eye of the storm when taking over as Newcastle United manager this summer.

He grew up supporting Newcastle and has attempted to get the fans on side by bringing that and making reference to how he couldn’t turn down the opportunity to join his boyhood club.

It’s perhaps more likely that a manager who had struggled in the Championship and was set for another year in the second tier has grabbed a shock chance to return to the big time.

But his reign did get off to a winning start against West Ham and the club’s official Twitter account has posted a photo of him welcoming new record signing Joelinton.

The exchange itself is slightly awkward, but many fans on Twitter were impressed with Bruce’s personal touch and were perhaps starting to warm to their new manager for the first time.

There are still many, many problems to sort out at Newcastle, but the supporters – basking in the glow of their second record signing of 2019 – gave Bruce perhaps his first taste of praise since he took the job.

The two comparisons to Sir Bobby Robson were incredibly premature but the supporters were impressed with what they saw…
